近年来，北京当局对文化审查不断收紧。近日，日本神户大学汉学学者揭露，有中国出版社编辑要求在中国发表作品的日本作者必须认同中共和“一个中国”。
一位号为“蓉堂居士”的日本汉学者16日在推特发文，指中国某著名出版公司传来一则令人惊讶的讯息，并附上截图，这家中国出版商表示，“作者是否认同中国共产党对新中国的领导，以及认同一个中国，或者说不反对上述问题。请作者微信答复，截图给我即可。”
“蓉堂居士”说，涉及的作品是一首日本人写的“中国诗”，诗中寄情山水，并没有涉及对中共的批评、也未涉及新疆、台湾等敏感议题。
推文另透露已拒绝了中国出版社方面的政治要求，并认为中国出版商要求外国作家签署“政治保证书”的做法目前仅处于“内部操作”阶段，但坦言感到中国媒体言论界正在形成一种不良气氛，且仅仅因为本身是日本人，约5年前就开始被一些中国出版社拒绝刊发作品。
据“自由亚洲电台”18日的报导，现代中国研究学者、日本东京大学教授阿古智子（Tomoko Ako）表示，身边的学者朋友也有类似遭遇。她认为中国在极权政治下，正在走向封闭和文化荒漠化。
旅居日本的资深媒体人、作家贾葭受访表示，中国对海外文化、出版物的审查已从审查内容到对作者进行思想审查，这意味著审查进一步升级。
贾葭说，像这样的情况出现丝毫不意外，对出版业的审查越来越严，过去只是审作品的内容，如今要审作者的思想，相比过去只审内容又严了一步，开始针对人而不是只是针对这本书。
报导指出，中国当局对海外出版物的政治审查愈加严厉。很多海外作家主动或被动选择向中国审查制度低头。美国哈佛已故教授傅高义（Ezra Vogel）在中国出版“邓小平传记”时，删减了“八九学运”期间的一些细节。
去年9月，英文政治寓言小说“1984”原版书籍在中国销售时，书中部分内容遭涂抹或撕页。该事件被称为“1984”中国现实版。
