為了保護自己房屋免遭搶劫，科迪 (Wayne Cody) 成了當地住在房車裡的居民之一。他的妻子和他們的孩子則借住在朋友的一棟房子裡。
他們在鎮上已有100年歷史的房子被保險評估員宣布已被侵泡報廢，需要重建。
