5月20日早上，上海市閔行區發生一起持刀傷人事件。一位居民持刀劃傷居委會書記後，拿刀自傷後跳樓。事件被曝光後引發輿論關注，大量網友在線譴責中國當局的強制封鎖。
5月20日，上海閔行區梅龍鎮通報稱，當日早上8點左右，男子聞某（64歲）因為開具出門證與居委會官員張某（男，62歲）產生誤會，持刀劃傷張某，之後再用刀自傷後跳樓。目前張某身體並無大礙，聞某則在醫療機構接受治療。
不過在此通報中，中國當局並未通報具體細節，包括官員的身份，當事兩人到底產生了什麼樣的誤會，聞某的傷勢是否嚴重及當局的處理結果等。
根據網友爆料，被劃傷者是居委會的書記，他的下巴被劃傷。動手者聞某在持刀傷害張某後，先是用刀捅傷了自己，又從4樓跳了下去。
該消息引發大量網友關注，相關話題也迅速登上微博熱搜榜。雖然直到目前為止，大數人仍不了解事件的具體情況，但是大多網友對持刀者張某表示同情，並譴責中國當局的防疫政策及防疫人員的專制。

有網友表示：「全世界都認為中國的老百姓柔順，隱忍，如此專制的封城，中國的老百姓卻不反抗，都在默默地配合，這樣的百姓，當局為什麼還要拼命折磨他們呢！」
有網友直言：「如果是以前，我會思考到底是誰對誰錯，但是經過兩個月的封城，我認為，這一定是居委會的責任，把順民給逼反了……。」
還有網友說：「從行兇者的舉動來看，給人一種十分悲涼的感覺。聞某在持刀傷人後，先傷自己，再跳樓，給人感覺就是實在是被逼到了極點，不得不做出反抗，反抗後又害怕了，氣自己為什麼衝動，就傷了自己，之後還是害怕，可能怕連累家人，於是想死，就跳樓了。如果真是這樣，中國人真的是太悲哀了。」
上海自3月底封城以來，出現許多荒謬事，及大量的人道危機。民眾不僅失去自由，還沒有物資，很多人處於飢餓狀態。近期，更是有大量核酸檢測陰性的民眾，被強制拉走隔離，防疫人員強行破門進入住處進行消殺，大量民眾處於恐慌之中。
