但在過去六個月里，二手車的價格下降了12%。因為隨著供應鏈的逐漸恢復，新車的平均等待時間已經開始從去年年中的159天減少到年末的150天。
據《澳洲人報》報導，澳洲車經銷商協會負責人James Voortman表示，生活成本上升和對經濟的擔憂正在給二手車價格踩下剎車。
「自去年下半年以來，二手車價格一直在走軟，」Voortman說，「但也有一些注意事項——某些車型的需求量非常大，而供應問題仍然很嚴重，因此我們看到特定二手車車型的價格很高。」
「比大流行之前的價格仍然高出不少，供應問題還沒有結束；這將取決於半導體供應危機何時會緩解。這個問題會持續到2023年，經濟需求的疲軟可能有助於讓問題緩解。」 James說。
估價網站Price My Car的數據顯示，在需求量最大的新車中，去年7月，豐田RAV4的等待期長達339天，但到12月，下降到257天；去年8月，豐田Landcruiser等待期長達301天，到上個月下降到291天。
該網站表示，未來一年，二手車價格只會下降，因此，打算賣車的人最好儘快出手。
去年，二手車價格大漲讓一些交易十分划算。一名維州人曾對9號台說，去年2月，他在臉書上以2.05萬澳元的價格賣掉了自己在2014年購買的二手豐田HiLux，雖然這車的行程比8年前他購買的時候增加了5.5萬公里，但售價只下降了1,500澳元。
