英国一位老太太清理家里时发现以前在跳蚤市场买的一颗超大“钻石”。经专家鉴定后，发现是个价值不菲的34克拉真钻。
据每日邮报报道，老太太原本以为该钻石是假的，因此不以为意。但邻居却劝她将钻石送去鉴定，于是她交给了拍卖师Mark Lane。Lane说：“这颗钻石太大了，比一英镑的硬币还要大，所以一开始我以为是人造的。”
Lane拿出测钻仪器进行检测，一检测把他吓了一跳，于是把钻石交给比利时Antwerp的专家进行认证。该专家最终得出结论，这是一颗钻石有34克拉的真钻，估价高达200万英镑（3,662,220澳元）。
这价值把Lane下了一大跳，他说从未处理过那么昂贵的珠宝或艺术品。他说：“这是五年前我从上一任老板手里买下这家公司后，处理过面额最大的单子。”
“珠宝、艺术品、家具等等什么我们都经手过，但从来没有遇到这么贵的。”他说。
这颗价值不菲的钻石势必将带给老太太一个舒适的生活。
