自昆州全面修订的电动滑板车法律去年11月生效至今，在短短两个多月内对违规者开出近800张罚单。
据澳广（ABC）报导，在迄今开出的780张罚单中有一半以上针对未戴头盔的骑手。仅此一项，罚款金额就高达6.2万澳元。
昆州警方对不戴头盔者开出438张罚单，对在禁止通行道路上行驶者开出161张罚单，对超速者开出52张罚单，对携带额外乘客者开出48张罚单，对未在红灯前停车者开出23张罚单，对在行驶中使用手机者开出5张罚单。
该州交通厅长Mark Bailey说，颁布新法律的目的是保证骑手安全。
“如果你在骑电动滑板车时违反规定，你就会被抓，毫无疑问。” Bailey表示，“无论是在路上的警车，还是在某个共享通道或自行车道上的警察，我们都在执行这些规定。”
警员Duncan Hill表示，尽管去年11月和12月新法生效期间，警方的重点只是警告骑手不要违规，但在接下来几个月，警方将更严格地执行规定并开罚单。
“这不仅仅是为了你自己，也是为了人行道上其他人的安全。” Hill说。
交通厅正与昆士兰警方合作，研究电动滑板车骑手醉酒到何种程度是合适的。目前，血液内酒精含量超过0.15或吸毒状态下骑车才被定义为醉驾或毒驾。
Hill警员说，虽然仍不确定酒精含量多少合适，但0.15已经非常高了。
“有一个误区，以为只要不开汽车回家就行了，但我们想提醒大家，在受酒精影响的状态下骑车也是一种犯罪行为。”
