因应港区国安法的实施，香港浸会大学宣布今后学生须必修国家安全教育，但不计算学分。此外，浸会大学也将从新学年起不再代学生会收取会费，成为全港第六间受港府资助的大学停止代收学生会会费的大学。
综合媒体报导，浸会大学校长卫炳江及管理层团队7月26日与传媒聚会时表示，从新学年起将不再为学生会收取会费。卫炳江称，“帮他们收是人情，不帮是道理”，强调并非“割席”，亦会继续为学生提供场地，还称一直有跟学生会沟通。
他又称，大学学生会应该为学生谋福祉，不只因应个人意愿做事，认为学生会的行动应该由会员集体决定。他表示，学生要发声，但过程须合法，一旦违犯法律就会受到制裁。
香港各大学过往一直在学生注册时代学生会收取会费，然后再由学生会向校方申请费用支付经费，但学生会因参与2019年的反送中运动，而备受港府和建制派批评。
港区国安法去年6月底上路后，城市大学便率先于去年8月宣布，不再为学生会收取会费，理由是学生会“财务管理持续欠佳”；接著陆续有中文大学、香港大学、理工大学和岭南大学宣布不再为学生会收取会费。
浸会大学从新学年起不再代学生会收取会费，是全港八间受港府资助的大学中第六间停止代学生会收取会费的大学，理由是学生会既是独立团体，便应自行收取会费。
浸大学生会对于校方停收会费暂未回应。此前各大学宣布停止代学生会收取会费时，评论和学生会均批评校方是在当局施压下借机打压学生会，令学生会因为收费困难而使会员人数减少，削弱学生会的力量。
浸大将国安教育列为必修课
校方还公布，从新学年入学的本科生，须在毕业前必修国安教育，不计学学分，但设有评估计分，强调有关课程不单单与政治有关，还涉及网络、环境安全及公共卫生等。卫炳江强调，国安法是重要法例，学生须理解。
副校长周伟立则表示，计划将国安教育放在“联通”课程，课程除了政治亦包括：网络安全、环境安全、公共卫生等。
有媒体提问有高层被控违反国安法、政府研究订立“假新闻法”等，有否影响传理系招生，校长卫炳江表示，今年报读传理系的情况没有太大问题，但未有最终数据。
他表示，现时有很多社交媒体，市民举起手机作直播成为传媒新生态，整个领域出现很多假消息，别有用心的团体会利用有关消息影响市民的心态，认为对传媒界的影响很大。
