据法广报导，从社交媒体上传播的各种视频来看，约1500名博尔索纳罗支持者闯入总统府、最高法院和国会，所到之处，打砸一片。这些建物出自巴西建筑师尼麦尔（Oscar Niemeyer）之手，本身就是现代建筑的瑰宝。
每一栋建筑内部都充满珍稀的装饰、巴西现代艺术家的作品，或其他国家赠与的艺术品。但这些建筑的窗户如今大多都被入侵的暴徒打破。巴西国家艺术史遗产研究所（Iphan）发布声明表示，研究所为这些建筑遭受的损害“深感痛心”，很快会请专家评估修复需求。
除此之外，最高法院前的三权广场（Square of the Three Powers）上名为“正义”（Justice）的花岗岩雕像被喷漆、法国国王路易十四（Louis XIV）时代的制钟大师马提诺（Balthazar Martinot）所造的精美时钟被砸烂、巴西现代主义艺术家卡法甘迪（Di Cavalcanti）的画作“穆拉托人”（Mulattoes）也严重毁损。
